“Curtain of Trees”

Through her unique style of over-exaggerated characters and whimsical features, Peck’s objective with this latest series is to embody the classic and iconic fashion of the 1920s and 30s. “I have always loved the early 1900s and I often find myself watching period pieces” explains Peck, “as much as I’d want to visit the time period myself, I love that I can experience it through art.” The fascination with this fashion era is due in part to her grandmother, whom Peck describes as always clothed in the most beautiful dresses and coats of the 20s and 30s. Peck keeps many photos of her grandmother proudly displayed in her studio as a continual source of inspiration. You will discover a surreal twist on high fashion and fine art that Melissa Peck unifies so effortlessly together, it is as if one cannot exist without the other.
