Sculptor Agnes Nyanhongo, the most renowned Shona female sculptor alive in Zimbabwe today, is carrying on the tradition of the first-generation sculptors who founded this distinct stone sculpture movement.
For the first time, Agnes, the eldest of the Nyanhongo family and head of the family business, attended this year’s debut of our new Shona sculpture collection, on display at Bonner David Galleries. Her works focus mainly on the human form and express a calm strength while observing and depicting the world around her with dignity and compassion.
